The Carl E. Sanders Family YMCA at Buckhead and the broader Atlanta tennis community have lost a true legend and beloved friend in Joe Becknell. Joe’s impact on our community is immeasurable, and his love for the Y and the friendships he built here were truly special. Joe cherished every relationship and every moment on the court, and we cherish our time with him.

In 2007, Court 4 was named in his honor, and ten years later, the Y Tennis Center itself was dedicated to Joe. These tributes were more than just acknowledgments of his achievements; they were celebrations of a life lived in service to others, creating memories and leaving indelible footprints on the hearts of those who knew him.
